Halloween X-Men Mystique Makeup Tutorial

We’re going to transform you into the scary blue mutant Mystique !
If you are a big fan of X-Men like I am, you probably want to be one of them for your next Halloween party. You can even go together with your friends as different X-Men.
One of the most popular character that I fell in love with has a strong character and really stands out with her famous blue skin, yellow eyes and red hair. Yes, It’s her Mystique! The most difficult X-Men model to dress like.
First sexy Mystique portrayed in the X-Men films by Rebecca Romijn and most recently by Jennifer Lawrence. In this latestest version Mystique has a brighter blue color and some makeup details that different from the old Xmen films.
Personally I do love the details in the old version of Rebecca that look dark and strong but I also love the bright blue tone of Jennifer, so I decided to mix both details into my own style.

Let’s start !
Prepare your face by applying your favorite primer all over your face, using a primer helps to create a smooth base and will make everything last longer.
Apply non-toxic glue to conceal the eyebrows and sideburns (for men) because Mystique doesn’t have hair in this area. Make sure to evenly apply in the same direction.
After the glue dried, find some blue makeup paint, cream makeup, body paint or any blue color that will work and that you will be able to take off easily, or else you will look like a smurf for days.
Starting at the forehead, Take a small brush to create a heart shape outline then paint the rest of your face with this blue color.
Find some shimmery navy blue eyeshadow and carefully dab it on your face. Start from the outline and accross the rest of your face. The shimmery will create a multi-dimension effect.
Next, apply some shimmery darker blue eyeshadow on the side of your nose and around the edge of your face to add more dimension that will make your face really pop.
Many tutorials use flesh latex to create the Mystique’s scales but latex always take much longer to dry, so I prefer to use face painting.
In order to create these scales, you will need black face painting or black gel eyeliner that is pretty easy to find.
Starting at the forehead, Use a small brush and draw in any shape or any pattern that you would like to make to reach your very own creation, or if you prefer just copy the Mystique pictures that are easy to find online. Follow the forehead with the scales on the sides of your cheeks and even a little on your nose. Try to make symmetrical scales on both sides of your face as much as you can.
Hightlight the scales by using white cream makeup, slightly apply on one side of each scale to make them really pop.
Next, create depth to the eye socket. Take the black eyeshadow and apply to the eye lid down to the bottom liner into cat eyes shape. Then take black liquid eyeliner and apply a thick dramatic cat eye winged.
Then comes the hair. You can buy a red wig but a wig will sit too far on your forehead and cover the scales you worked so hard to get. We recommend you to simply paint your hair with red cream makeup. You can use shampoo to wash the color off later, don’t worry :).
For the body part, use a sponge to apply blue cream makeup, shimmery dark blue eyeshadow, draw scales and hightlight with white cream makeup. Then just repeat the same steps that you followed for your face.
After you have finished with the body, go back to your face and use blue eyeliner that you must apply all over your lips and use white eyeliner to outline the lips . Then use Q-tips to blend the white color, this technique makes your lips look darker.
Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara and tightline your eyes by using yellow eyeliner. The last step that you need is solid yellow contacts to finish this Mystique look, you can find them on our store.
