Interestingly though, these massive eyes can barely move and stay still in their sockets, so they must move their head so far. Owls have 14 neck bones that let them turn their head 270 degrees in both directions to see what is sneaking up behind.
Their adaptations to hunting at night aren’t limited to their incredible eyesight: long and serrated feathers allow the owl to fly almost silently, and crushingly powerful talons allow them to catc anything.
